This is my third expedition exploring one of Europe's biggest glaciers, the Vatnajökull, in southern Iceland. We've been in search of futuristic ice climbs that build on a personal photography project that began in 2014. What makes climbing in these glaciers most unique is the overhanging and three dimensional ice found in hidden ice caves, ice tubes, and icebergs. It's a combination of art and athleticism that requires lots of exploration to find the perfect climbs.

This year I was able to get a few The North Face team athletes psyched to come along to test their strength and collaborate with their creative visions on what might be possible in this other worldly landscape. For the next week Renan Ozturk , Samuel Elias, Anna Pfaff, Hansjörg Auer, and myself will be taking over this feed and sharing stories of some of the craziest, wildest, most futuristic climbs yet."
